Dads & Kids Workshops
The popular 'Dads & Kids' Workshops which take place on the first Sunday of every month, offer free, fun interactive activities which give dads and their kids a chance to spend time together.
Please note that a 'Dads & Kids' Workshop will not be taking place in December as a Santa's Breakfast event is scheduled in it's place. For more information on Santa's Breakfast please click here.
NOVEMBER - Basketball Shoot Out Competition
For the November 'Dads & Kids' Workshop, dads and their kids took part in an exciting Basketball Shoot Out competition where the Knox Raiders came along as special guests to give some fantastic tips.
OCTOBER 2008 - Kite Decorating
Dads and their kids were able to get creative and decorate their very own kite, an ideal toy to take home for some healthy outdoor fun with the warm weather just around the corner!
SEPTEMBER 2008 - Father's Day Handball Competition
A Football Handball Competition was held to help celebrate the AFL Football Finals. Joel Bowden, from the Richmond Tigers, made a special appearance and there were plenty of prizes and giveaways. It was a great way for dads and their kids to spend quality time together on Father's Day.
AUGUST 2008 - 'Dads & Kids' Get Olympic Fever!
To celebrate the 2008 Olympics, dads and their kids got the chance to design and make their own medals, plus write a special letter for their favourite Olympian which was mailed to Beijing!
JULY 2008 - Decorating Calico Bags
As the centre is celebrating Green Month in July, dads and their kids got the chance to decorate and personalise a calico bag together. Kids can use their personalised bag over and over again in support of the environment!
JUNE 2008 - Balloon Modelling
For the month of June, dads and their kids learnt the tricks behind balloon modelling! Melbourne’s best balloon modeller, Mr Balloon, came and showed our dads and their kids creative ways to make their own balloon characters – a handy skill for any occasion!
MAY 2008 - Creating something special for mum!
For the May 'Dads & Kids' Workshop, dads and their kids put the spotlight on Mum! They got to work together to decorate a gorgeous jewellery box which they could give to mum on Mother’s Day. And if that wasn't enough, the decorated jewellery boxes were filled with delicious chocolates! Exciting spot prizes were also available on the day which spoilt mums even more!
APRIL 2008 - Football Handball Challenge
The April 'Dads & Kids' Workshop was a fantastic Football Handball Challenge in celebration of the beginning of the 2008 AFL season! As well as guest AFL players, there was lots of fun to be had with the giant "Fat Footballers", an Umpire on Stilts, and free face painting for the kids in their favourite team colours!
MARCH 2008 - Motor Racing Challenge
At the March 'Dads & Kids' Workshop, the centre celebrated the Grand Prix with an exciting Motor Racing Challenge!
Dads and their kids felt like Formula 1 drivers in racing car simulators as they challenged each other for exciting prizes up for grabs on the day! The first prize was a Four Corners Grandstand pass for two to the Formula 1 ING Australian Grand Prix!
FEBRUARY 2008 - Fun of the Fair
The first workshop for 2008 – Fun of the Fair, took place on Sunday 3 February. Activities included a jumping castle, laughing clowns and burst the balloons games. Plus, there was face painting, balloon modelling and a musical act! To top it all off, a special circus workshop taught dads and their kids how to juggle and spin plates!
